The sketch above was the very first piece of art created for the world of Omina. It shows the core idea of a plain landscape with an anomaly splitting across the sky. The contrast presented here is what I wanted to capture with the rest of the project.

anomaly art: guiding principles

Anomalies have different resource requirements and effects. Because of this I wanted to tie the identity of each anomaly type to a core color and shape. The following blue and red anomalies are extensions of this idea to create the four total anomaly types in the game.

Beyond anomalies there are vans that players control. In order to crew these vans players draft characters belonging to four different factions. Below are the explorations related to the vans, characters, and factions that players interact with.

The last part of the project was to put the concept art to use. In order to do this I created a type, icon, and layout system for various cards, boards, and tokens; Then worked a few illustrations to a higher level of polish; Finally, I made the box, cards, boards, and tokens real
